Rishab Pant is a questionable selection. he's good but guys like Samson offer more with the bat and gloves in the white ball cricket.

Yeah, as a WK batter he has done more than enough to cement his position. Other than that, if we go by merits then as backup of WK batter Sanju should've been in the squad, if not the playing XI. It will be Pant's first ODI series after an accident so it looks like a sympathy quota, reputation quota, game changer quota and X-factor quota.
Also, it feels like we are 1 seamer short. If by any chance 1 seamer gets injured or becomes unfit, the team combination will suffer but I guess they are assuming that UAE will offer a slow surface and spin will play a major part.
Shami and Bumrah should be in playing XI, one of them get injured, Arshdeep comes in. How are we short? Or Are you also counting Hardik as seamer?
You know I wanted Nitish Reddy in there. He lost his charm a bit after making his century in BGT, but still his demeanour seems calm headed which could come really handy under pressure situations.
Bumrah just gave you a scare with his injury. Shami is returning from long break due to rehab and Hardik is injury prone. I hope everything goes alright, otherwise, we'll face a tune and look like a chump.
