many use bitcoin as their retirement plan because unlike just saving money your money will grow since bitcoin is anti-inflation its value will not decrease over time compared to fiat where not spending it will not be beneficial so if you want to “save” money for the future hold it in bitcoin
But bitcoin is a highly volatile asset and investing in it is risky, it can increase the value of your money but it can also decrease the value of your money. There is no guarantee that in 20 or 30 years, bitcoin will still exist or still have value.
It's really funny that someone is still thinking this way in 2025. This is the same thinking that made most of us miss out on bitcoin at it's earliest stage when we first had the opportunity to invest in it. But doubts and uncertainty clouded our minds and we lost out when bitcoin was still cheap. Many people had believed at that time that bitcoin won't survive up to a year that it will fade and people will lose interest in it. But here we are 15 years later and bitcoin is still moving forward and the value still increasing. Dude bitcoin is here to stay and it will remain as far as the internet still exists. Can you imagine a world without the internet ever again? Your answer is as good as mine. Will there ever be a world where money is no longer valuable? You saying that there is no guarantee that bitcoin will be here in the next 20 to 30 years is equivalent to saying that money will stop being in existence in the next 20 to 30 years. What do you think is bitcoin? Bitcoin is money in digital form!! Bitcoin will only go away when internet and money are no longer needed by humans. And I can't imagine that world being possible.
Maybe they only consider those short term movements of bitcoin that's why they always talk about or got scared about the volatility. If they just erased those negative thoughts and pay attention more on its potential then also consider the other future developments they provably say that somehow its good to hold Bitcoin for retirement.
Although there's really no guarantee on everything but the way how we look at the current development happened now with Bitcoin provably we have some good future to look forward on Bitcoin. I guess that mindset is just the same with old dudes before where they doubt that Bitcoin will prosper. But all of those people think negative about Bitcoin has proven wrong since we always see Bitcoin hit new high despite of those negative thoughts spread by some people.
