This footballer in the Italian Serie A could face a four-year ban from all football competitions for his alleged involvement in match fixing. It is not just him alone, the Diego Giordano, a 40-year-old pizzeria owner in Udine could also face sanctions.

How did the match fixing happen? The player who is a goalie was booked for time-wasting in the 64th minute during one of the games in March 2024.  Time wasting is a type of match fixing in addition to those from the ref and other officials.

Match fixing happens everywhere but it is only easier to detect in the smaller leagues

A great example of the fact that match-fixing fraud exists at any level, not just in the lower leagues, as some gullible gamblers believe. It is naive to believe that if something is not visible, then it is not there. Big-time sports are primarily a business of siphoning money from fans, gamblers and just the audience. The main task is to maximize profits by any means. If match-fixing is guaranteed to make a profit, then it has always been, is and will be at any level from the lowest to the highest.

It would be nice to find some way to predict which match has a high risk of being a match-fixing. It doesn't even matter if this is the case, it is only important to know that in a particular case there is a high risk that the coefficients are incorrect.
