This footballer in the Italian Serie A could face a four-year ban from all football competitions for his alleged involvement in match fixing. It is not just him alone, the Diego Giordano, a 40-year-old pizzeria owner in Udine could also face sanctions.
How did the match fixing happen? The player who is a goalie was booked for time-wasting in the 64th minute during one of the games in March 2024. Time wasting is a type of match fixing in addition to those from the ref and other officials.
Match fixing happens everywhere but it is only easier to detect in the smaller leagues

I remember back in the day when I was in school, when a goalkeeper or any player is in possession of the ball, but refuse to kick it off when he is she is supposed to thereby wasting time, it is usually the responsibility of the ref either issue a yellow card to such a player as a warning to not repeat such again, but if this is something the player have done over and over again, he or she may likely be getting a red card, but this has never been considered as a type of match fixing, this is my very first time getting to know that such behavior is match fixing.
I don't know if that will be categorize as match fixing since as far as I know if the goal keeper takes to much time to hold the ball he will be penalized and referee will give free kick to opponent. Never heard about this as part of match fixing activities.
But maybe they find some grounds to determine that that's really a match fixing since they find other illegal things done by other players aside from that wasting of time those players did.
Now trying to find some information if there's certain situation recorded before.
