You know as well as I, that if the Kiev government had stopped killing Russians and Ukrainians in both Russia and Ukraine (Donbas Donetsk and North into Russia) any time between 2014 and 2022, Putin would never have ordered his invasion. So, it was the Ukraine aggression that caused the killing.
Ukraine is essentially dead, but do you think that they have enough sense to stop? No. They keep on trying to commit suicide, more and more and more. Simply look at the website listed above, in this post.
It wasn't the Ukrainians who started the fighting, but the separatists, don't confuse them.
Even if that is true, Ukraine knows that if it can't even stop the 'separatists', that it is pure suicide to attempt to stop Russia. They should have been seeking a treaty with Russia right from the beginning (2022), and surrendering rather than attempting any kind of fight at all.
The war is Ukraine's no matter how you look at it.
