Not worry about the future of our team because the new guys are good and hungry. Likes of Pant, Gill and Jaiswal are fine as well.
A test XI should be balanced with the combination of experience as well as young talents but the selectors just go with the star players over the performing players that's the big problem and it was exposed in the BGT. Pant proved his class in the Gabba and Jaiswal with his overseas knocks in agressive style kind of similar what Shewag did even though not comparing both of them.
Gill yet to prove his ability to play in this level, he might score one or 2 innings if he played 10 innings that's not consistent and he doesn't deserve the title prince with such kind of performance.
Both of them look dead weight atm but I believe Kohli will get another run in the next series, possibly the England tour which is our next 5 test match away series and scheduled for later in July. Rohit is finished but there might be a slight possibility that he gets in, not on merits but on PR lobby and the reason would be he's nurturing and guiding the next possible captain (Pant would be a big candidate for Test captaincy). Whatever happens. Rohit will be replaced this year.
Gill had a dream debut in Australia (2021) but for some reason, he became mid tier player. He's still scoring enough runs in India tho but his numbers are not improving in SENA which is a bit of a worry but he's young and BCCI has invested in him heavily and hopes he delivers in the next 2-3 year cycle. If not, then he will become the next KL Rahul, a generational talent with a mediocre test career, it would be sad tbh because he is indeed a talented guy.
Sadly, tough chance for Thakur because of NKR.
