Ledger nano x reset by itself or did it? And security concerns.

So I turned on my nano x, only to find out the device displayed the welcome screen. I dont know if it was a coincidence or if I hit the buttons by accident that this happened.  For the last couple of days, ive been carrying it around in my pocket to be clear.  First off, the button on the outside while in the closed position does not turn it on by itself. Could it be possible that the nano x slid open and I hit the other button to turn it on, then magically entered a pin wrong 3x by my leg hitting the buttons and in addition, my leg confirming the wrong password 3x by the required simultaneous 2 button push ?  I seriously doubt it!  So this concerns the heck out of me and scared the crap out of me.

So now, I had to enter recovery phrase.  This is the first time I had to use it which scared me further because what I should have done before accumulating crypto was to actually test the recovery phrase first upon purchase to make sure it worked.  Well anyway, it worked and all went well.

But then I started to think:
1)  Is my device compromised now that I had to actually enter the recovery phrase into the device?
2) Then I started to read about ledger's new update that implements a recovery feature that allows you the option to have them extract your recovery phrase to be stored with them.  I think this totally asinine and contradicts getting a cold storage wallet in the first place.  But I dont remember agreeing to it or not and this worries me.  I also read that even if you do not agree to it, the update still gives them the "ability" to extract your recovery phrase.  So how do I know if I agreed to it or not?
3) Back to question 1, could this be a hack from ledger where they randomly reset your device so that when you enter your recovery phrase to regain access, then the next time you connect to ledger live, you expose your recovery phrase?
4) Is my device safe or not?  I need to know whether to dump my crypto somewhere else and find a new device.

Thank you for your help guys.
