Mr. self-expelled "Bitcoin Jesus" pleading for Trump's help as a "real american".
I should call him "Chameleon Jesus" from now on  Cheesy

Wow.. yeah.. holy moley.  I would speculate that if Ver is publicizing something like this publicly, then he has also already been making attempts to communicate with Trump privately, so yeah, I wonder if Ver's framing of his case is going to appeal to Trump.. and probably there are not too many bitcoiners who are very sympathetic to Roger Ver, even though it could be that Ver does not deserve to be prosecuted to the extent that he is... and sure many of us realize that the process of legal matters (especially if there are criminal components) can end up having quite extensive negative ramifications just to go through the process, so I would imagine that none of us would want to go through with whatever legal proceedings that Ver is going through, even though Ver's spin on the matter seems a bit weird.. but still might not mean that he deserves prison time and probably he would be wanting to negotiate a fine rather than prison if something like a fine might be possible and feasible to accomplish.  Ver should try to get CZ's attorneys who seemed to have negotiated a pretty decent outcome for CZ, but surely every situation is different, even though it still seems that CZ ended up having some decent outcome as compared with how bad his outcome could have had been, given the sometimes seemingly vindictive appearances that the US Govt sometimes has.. and yeah, I am not sure if I have seen exactly why the US Govt is seeking 109 years for Ver, or if some of that might be negotiable in a way to reduce it with some good legal counsel.  (oh, I see that WatChe provided a link to anyone, including yours truly, who might want to look more closely at the Ver indictment from February 15, 2024).. I quickly browsed through the Ver indictment, and surely there are some damaging factual allegations contained therein.

It's crazy to me that even after the horrible fall flat on your face failure of the lightning network, people are still mad at Roger and not Blockstream.  This is why governments censor.  It works.

You come off as a nutjob if you are both asserting lightning network to be a failure, and you are wanting to pump up Roger's conspiracy theories instead of potentially sticking with some potentially more reasonable arguments about the unfairness of the US government to go after Ver for taxes (and allegations of fraud) around 10-ish years after he (Roger) had renounced his USA citizenship.

All that being said, this is damning:

That Musk tweet may well reflect Trump's initial perspective on the topic about the problematic nature of someone renouncing USA citizenship in regards to getting a pardon or some other presidential intervention in Ver's case... but yeah, who knows?  Presidents have quite a bit of latitude in regards to why they may or may not issue pardons or some other relief or even pressure the IRS to drop the case (or it seems to be the Department of Justice that brought the case).

Bitcoin is up over 600% since Peter Zeihan told Joe Rogan that BTC has “no intrinsic value”    Grin

It doesn't though. All value is subjective.

I personally consider that various aspects of bitcoin's network and how it is designed contribute to bitcoin's actual value in a much broader and concrete way, so it becomes quite problematic to proclaim all value as subjective.

Of course, you can believe what you like, even though it seems to me that categorizing of all value as subjective comes off as a wee bit whimsical and out of touch with other  ways that value can be assessed, since it seem that something has to actually have value in various objective ways in order for the subjective valuations to potentially complement the objective valuations.. and sure sometimes humans may get the valuations wrong or have to re-evaluate why they might value something relative to something else, which again I would superficially without getting into a bunch of nitty gritty to have both objective and subjective components depending on the asset, good and/or service being valuated.
