That's some news I would actually appreciate because Neymar's best times have long been over and if he is now willing to give some support to the club that raised him, I think it is a great idea. Money is not an issue anymore for him as PSG and Saudi Arabia made him rich. This is why I like the idea to go back to the roots and play there. I don't think the league is weak and there is no competition going on, which means it remains to be seen what impact Neymar can eventually have for Santos.

But since there are still a couple of months to go until the summer transfer period, who knows what European club suddenly shows up and reaches out to his management and asks for a 1 year contract or something. I wouldn't rule that out just yet, but I think all the clubs in Europe by now know that it is a risk to sign him unless he would go there for a low salary.

To some degree I think he wasted his career. He shouldn't have left Barcelona as he had some great years there I think with Messi and Suarez back then. Great players all with great technique and the ability to bring attacks to an end either with dribblings, shots from anywhere or smart passing. It was a pleasure to watch them play.
