The fact that club Brugge will likely progress to the knockout stages of this competition if they get a result against Manchester City is the major reason why they're expected to give their best in that game. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City will be the host in that game and considering the quality of players in the team, almost everyone will be expecting them to win but their visitors who knows that they'll be eliminated from the competition if they fail to win or draw and are also the underdogs will want to throw everything at Manchester City knowing fully well that they've got little to lose if they end up getting beaten.
Pep Guardiola I don't think have ever found himself is this kind of situation since his managerial career which is why I think he'll be heavily criticized if they fail to win that game.
Club Brugge's chances for now are much greater when compared to Manchester City, but on the other hand with the current conditions, especially when City are currently playing at home with the demands of a mandatory victory that they must get, of course this will still be a little complicated for them.
Even so, I don't think this will be easy either. Pep first seems to feel something like this in a competition where they have to be able to win the last match to qualify for the next phase. But on the other hand, this is the last resort for them if they really want to be seen as the favorite club to win because in the end this defeat will be the worst condition during Pep's coaching of Manchester City.
Currently Brugge only allows for a draw to make their conditions a little restrained by hoping that the club below them cannot outperform the points they get but it is different for Manchester City where when results other than victory then it is certain they will be eliminated early.
