Now, OK so of my DOTA picks, one is doing terribly, but I'm not going to use a VAR and just let it ride, I'm sure they'll fight their way through the rounds anyway. And who the hell are Yakult bros? Prebiotic mafias? Haven't seen a comp where they play everyone in the group on the same day, or is that just me forgetting how the other rounds went in other tourneys?
It depends from tournament to tournament. This one has groups just to make seeds for real draw. Nobody is getting dropped from the group. Best placed teams are skipping few rounds, 2nd, place are skipping one round less and so on. This group stage is also played on just one map, perfect for surprises and catching big odds but not gonna tell you much about winners.
It is though to track teams in DOTA sometimes, they change sponsor and name with that or just make a new team from few rejects from other top teams. Seems like this is that 2nd case, all familiar names for me but i don't know enough about China DOTA to actually place them from my head.
