Literarily, it's like going somewhere to hide when you can't face the shame, where no one can see you, where you can't account to anyone. It's like running to a new country where no one knows you and can't come to your face to say the things that are making you run away. When the situation is worse in their eyes, they see suicide as a lifeline, as an option to be exploited.
