I saw a news today about a person who decided to end his life after losing around 150K in a single bet, the person is an average middle class with a wife and baby and his annual income will be around 40K (max) then why on earth he decided to bet that big amount on a single bet. It's evident that his greed forced him to take such decision but as a result he lost the life and leaving the loved ones stranded. What's your take on this matter?
Sorry to ask but this amount is in which currency?
When we sing gamble responsibly, people think it's just a mere words but it's not. Gamble responsibly is a philosophy that once followed, you'll hardly fall victim of cases like this one or any form of addiction. In some cases like this, it might not be addiction but a manipulation and greed. I believe someone that has been gambling for a while should already know what gambling is capable of doing and wouldn't be shocked when they lose their money. Someone who is just coming into the industry perhaps with a mindset of making huge money from gambling based on what others have told them about gambling, then issue like this are bound to happen.
That being said, whether you are a newbie or not suicide shouldn't be the way out when you lose a bet. In fact, it's a foolish decision to take because it simply solves nothing other than adding to your problem. Now, whom did he leave the wife and the baby for? He might recover the lost money from another source if he had saved his life.
