I saw a news today about a person who decided to end his life after losing around 150K in a single bet, the person is an average middle class with a wife and baby and his annual income will be around 40K (max) then why on earth he decided to bet that big amount on a single bet. It's evident that his greed forced him to take such decision but as a result he lost the life and leaving the loved ones stranded. What's your take on this matter?
It's not really new that people are committing suicide due to financial hardship and depression due to gambling.
A research has shown that suicidal behaviors were found among addicted gamblers, with 31 percent of them having thoughts of suicide, 17 percent planning to commit suicide, and 16% dying solely due to gambling.
sourceSo these things are not new, but I feel bad for that man and his family, In fact, after such incidents, I think that whatever we do in our personal lives, we should at least share it with our family members, and family members should also make sure that no one in the family goes astray.
Yes, it's not new, we have heard this kind of unfortunate stories of gamblers taking their lives because of the massive lost the got. But still though, it's not a way to end, as he left a wife and a kid. So how will his family recover from this trauma?
And it's like those who do this is selfish because of what will happen to the family being left out. I know this might sounds rehearse already, but taking one's life is not the very solution for our gambling addiction. We can also share our prayers with the families who are becoming a victim of such tragedy.
