You are right if we look at some of the club spending data in this winter market, only Man City is in first place by spending 218 million Euro. Pep Guardiola feels the need to add ammunition due to their poor performance at the beginning of the season. Facing the end of the season, the demands are getting heavier and Man City can rely on the new players as much as possible. But can all the players they buy adapt quickly? considering that Pep Guardiola is an idealistic coach about tactics so the burden on the new players will be much more pressing.
Well looking at how terrible they were doing at the start of the season, we would guess that them spending this much money was just a way of trying to recover what they have lost. In the end, they are a rich club and been one for a long time, but money doesn't bring in championships all alone, we have seen that.

So many clubs in the league have much more money than City, and spent more money many times over as well, and yet none of that really mattered because others didn't win. Sure city spends a lot, but they actually turn that spending into titles and that's why they are so good. This year they are going to fail to win the title we all know that, but next year they could actually do a lot better with these new players.

Hopefully, the spending done by Man City can quickly fix the situation in Pep's team which feels like it is having problems in midfield. Nico González's presence might help Man City's midfield if he manages to quickly adapt to the team.
The rest of this season might be a tough season if Pep puts pressure on his players to play better and the target of catching up in the Premier League. We can see Pep's expression is not good enough in several matches, maybe he is also stressed by his team's situation.
Manchester City has made a lot of transfers and they want to get to a better level. However, the heavy defeat they received against Arsenal may cause them to relive their fears.
