I find this result really unexpected. Having beaten Manchester City by a big margin, Arsenal were certainly favorites to get full points in this match but for some reason they did not show their best performance on the pitch. Arsenal put in a similar performance against Manchester City but failed to do so against Newcastle.
In the English Premier League, Newcastle is not a stronger team than Arsenal at all, but still the result is against Arsenal and in favor of Newcastle. The second leg of the semi-final of the EFL Cup saw Arsenal exit the tournament with a 4–0 aggregate defeat against Newcastle.
If we discuss only the second leg match then there is really nothing to say for Arsenal as they did not perform in a way that can be appreciated based on their performance.
This is a knockout round, so there is no such thing as full points.
It is hard to believe that Arsenal had to lose to Newcastle, and even Arsenal was unable to score a single goal against Newcastle, after in the previous match Arsenal was able to bombard Man City with a landslide score in the EPL. However, even so, this is what makes English football so popular with the wider community, because it does present quite competitive competition.
Like the example in another match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest which in 2 meetings ended in defeat for Liverpool and one draw. Then in the next match we were presented with a match between Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth which ended in a landslide victory for Bournemouth with a score of 5-0. And if we only look at that, of course when Bournemouth met Liverpool, it should have been a victory for Bournemouth, because previously Bournemouth was able to beat Nottingham Forest who had previously been able to hold and beat Liverpool. But what happened was not that, Bournemouth actually had to lose 2-0 to Liverpool.
Thus, it is not wrong if people consider that the English league is the most competitive league in the world.
