Arteta was not too bad to be Arsenal coach because he was able to make a change after replacing the previous coach and even in his first season as Arsenal coach he managed to present the FA Cup title. What Arsenal needs to do to build the confidence of the players because mentality is important in an effort to achieve success. If this season Arsenal fail again, the next season it will definitely be far more difficult because there are many teams that may have made changes so that it will make it difficult for Arsenal to compete. If the mentality has not been formed properly, it will be difficult for Arsenal to achieve success in any competition because they do not have more confidence.
Mikel Arteta is not a bad coach but he has not been able to meet the expectations the club that is targeting the EPL title but Arsenal is unlikely to fire Arteta just because he has not been able to meet expectations because so far Arsenal has performed stably in the EPL even though he has not been able to win the title, Mikel Arteta has only been able to provide the runner-up position for the last 2 years and this season seems to be the same I am sure that over time Arteta can meet the expectations of this club all it takes is a process to be able to build a strong mentality to compete in the hunt for the EPL title.
I think sometimes expectations are too much isolated from what is happening around a club. For example when Klopp was expected to finally win the Premier League with Liverpool and he gathered 99 points in one season, I believe everyone agrees that 99 points is an incredible result that hardly any coach ever achieved in the Premier League. 99 points is historical.
But there is nothing that Klopp can do when in a season when he reaches 99 points, Manchester City reaches 100 points. Now the question here comes up whether Klopp failed to meet expectations or not when actually he got those 99 points? If before the season someone would have said Liverpool is going to get 99 points, all people would have been shaking their head. But when they got it and still failed to win the Premier League, it was said that he failed to meet expectations.
I argue that Arteta has had a few very good seasons, but the truth is that there have been teams that were not only top, but top top top. You can be a top team and yet there can be somebody being an inch better. This is what Arteta is going through. In the past there have been many seasons when 85 points would have meant winning the title. But due to Liverpool and Manchester City having these incredible season so often, it is tough to take anything away from those two teams in a season even when the performance is on a great level.
