You know, scammers don't need to be too smart and too creative with their scam methods.

Victims of scammers were scammed and lost money because they were too careless, and did not do any search at all. If they simply hold on a while, sit down, calm down and do a simple search, they can detect a scam method easily. I don't say about the elderly who were victims of scammers because they possible had issues with modern technology and could not search properly.
For victims who are young or middle aged, they're responsible for their carelessness so that they were scammed.
You’re not wrong in this assertion. But then again, do you think it’s all young and mid aged people actually know the sources to do their research or who exactly to ask certain questions to confirm the validity and authenticity of the information they receive. So sometimes, scammers aren’t really that stupid, especially when it involves forging documents, certificates and other things just to prove their authenticity, and it’d only take one with in-depth knowledge to be able to detect that it’s actually a scam.
I know there are scammers who are pretty stupid and I know that some of their victims are being scammed because they’re greedy or even more stupid not to detect the simple techniques. But for those scammers who go as far as using advanced techniques and technologies just to confuse their victims, you can’t blame their victims, because it could be that they don’t know where or how to go about their research. Now scammers, thanks to the advent and emergence of the Ai technology and other technologies can make fake video calls, fake phone calls, clone accounts and fabricate all sort of information that even you can get confused and actual fall victim.
Some people are only able to avoid being scammed because they’ve decided never to believe any offer they get online and to consider everything they see online as scam, until maybe they’ve been able to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.
