I've done an experiment myself, showed a few guys how to install Electrum, make a Bitcoin wallet and receive or send money from their wallet. I know that Electrum doesn't have the best user interface but the answer I got from these people was that it's too complicated and gives them a headache.
When I finished the university, I started work in bank and you can't imagine how funny young people were with computers, they were calling IT guys for the most basic things.
