I believe that you should not lend money to people who are addicted to gambling and alcohol, as you are not helping them, but supporting their addiction. In my opinion, it is much more productive to educate them about the harm of their addictions. Addiction is a kind of disease that can be very difficult to cope with, especially for people who have a psychological predisposition to it. If we help such people, we should only help them with full confidence that the money will not be used to support their addiction.
Does anyone ask what they borrow money for? No one asked me about this. Only later did it turn out that I spent it in a casino. After that, no one lent me money. Yes, you are right. You should not indulge people and support their addiction, but at first it is difficult to find out the details. People trusted me and I let them down when I did not return the money on time. After all this, people did not even communicate with me, and some of them crossed me out of their lives. This is how to be addicted to gambling.

I'm always interested in what they want to borrow money from me for. If the money is needed for alcohol, gambling, some other entertainment that this person can do without, I will never go for it. If I lend money to someone, it is only for really necessary things. By the way, I noticed that by introducing this rule in my life around me became less people whose purpose was to borrow money. In fact, this is a very good solution because it eliminates from your social circle people without whom life becomes calmer.
