When someone gives well reply and gets impressed with their effort but you are out of merits or zero merits in account. What is the better solution in this situation? I've noted few replies from member on my old post that they must deserves to get merited.
Things like this do happen most times, but that is the main reason we have merit sources in the forum to check some merit worthy posts that are not merited due to lack of merits and so on. If you don’t have smerits, you should not worry yourself, but you can bookmark the threads in case you have smerits to send in the future.

Beefier, there used to be some threads that allow users to submit unmerited posts by other users which is really helpful, but most if these threads are not active as they used to be before. Therefore, if you have any thread that worth been merited, keep an eye on the thread and merit it whenever you have smerit.
Exactly, we have a lot of merit sources so that way if you notice any post that deserves merit but you are out of merit you can just save the post somewhere or bookmark it so you can easily find it you have some smerit to spend. Meriting a post is something that can be done at later time if you really want to appreciate the person’s effort but you are out smerit, you can always come back later to merit it as you can. Or just as Hyphen(-) mentioned, you can also submit unmerited good posts to merit sources and if they find it worthy of being merited then the post will be merited but you must understand that some posts you find merit worthy might not really impress others so if the merit source is not impressed then he/she will not merit the post. Most of those threads that request for unmerited quality post are not really functional anymore.

Giving merits to useful posts is a way of encouraging people on the forum to keep up their good work so if you must merit a post you can always come back later when you have smerit to appreciate the users efforts and encourage them more.
