Don't put all your trust in a mentor on achieving your goals in life, it is because your mentor and you had different situation that has also a different solution, so i think we need to have faith in our own self capacity to pursue our dreams not just trusting our future to others or to mentors hand.
Sometimes it is good to always believe in yourself, without relying on the mentor who guides us, but it all depends on a person's belief in achieving their goals. If the goals that are applied are far different from your mentor's and feel unsuitable, then self-belief needs to be applied because the mentor's views are sometimes different from the beliefs that we feel.
What you need to do is to seek advice from people you trust. When you implement it in your personal life, you should apply as much of that sound advice as you can. The point is that not everyone has the same problem. If you seek advice on investing from a trusted person, he may suggest that you start by investing money and saving. He can only give you this advice but to make it effective you will have to make an effort to save small amounts of money from your discretionary income and you are responsible for determining the amount of savings.
