I never understood why so many people were rushing to get an experimental, unproven vaccine. If you’re in good health & under the age of 60 it never made sense to get vaccinated. We have an immune system which unless compromised is very capable of protecting us against a respiratory virus. I would feel pretty stupid if I had got vaccinated.
You know what, many people got vaccinated not because they fear of disease. Many did because it because they wanted to get rid of restrictions like going shopping, restaurants, travelling restrictions or they were simply forced by their job. If everything would about disease, % of vaccination would be much much lower.
To me it is kind of concerning how not so long ago it was of public knowledge how helpful and important vaccines are in order to prevent outbreaks of very dangerous but preventable illnesses, like polio (in the case of the United States), and suddenly we are in a position in which people cannot even tell the difference between propaganda based on the interest of a few people so the majority will hesitate to spare their children from suffering preventable illnesses. It is true one is supposed autonomy over one's own body, but we also need to be aware on the negative impact all this misinformation on vaccines are causing in western societies.
People in China and Russia do not have the same problem with vaccination hesitancy because their leaders are not stupid and know vaccines work, but politicians who have an agenda want to people to get sick for some reason...
Actually, Russia was one of the first States to develop a vaccine against COVID and I did not see any right wing media to badmouth the Kremlin because of it, but they do when Pfizer and other American companies do the same.
Whole thisCovid stuff and conspiracy theories had huge bad impact for all other vaccines. People don't trust in vaccines which were proven to be safe and effective and were used for decades. This can cause return of some disease which were basically extincted because of vaccination.
When it comes to Russia, situation was different there than in China. People didn't had much trust in Sputnik vaccine, something similar like we saw in West and as I remember % of vaccination in Russia was quite low.
