Lewandowski has been a regular performer for Barcelona this season. Consistent performances in La Liga or Champions League or other tournaments as well as contributing well to almost every victory. The star is quite old but his performance doesn't make him look like an old footballer. Maybe as long as he can perform well in the future, Barcelona will keep the contract with him, but when his performance deteriorates, Barcelona may not extend the contract with him. If he doesn't perform well at this age and Barcelona don't extend his contract, his next destination might be the Saudi League. Because the clubs of the Saudi League cannot sign young footballers for high prices, but they have taken many star players at the end of their careers in their league for high prices, maybe the same will happen with Lewandowski.
The current 1 season contract I think is still quite wise with the performance he has now by minimizing the expenses that Barcelona is still doing now actually quite reasonable when they will still extend Lewa's contract even though it is only for one season on the pretext of age.

Currently there are few options that Barcelona can do to add or reshuffle players. Their financial problems, which are slightly better after successfully getting fresh funds from the VIP box, make them a little safe but cannot be too extreme to bring in players so inevitably as long as the player can still be used or is still useful, they will certainly maximize it as a form of their profit so that performance is maintained and managed to maintain good financial conditions so that for now I think Lewa extending his contract is a smart move even though it is based on a compulsion because they cannot find other alternatives in this case.
