As much as I do not want to believed it, but looking at my gambling habits before, I think this could have some value as far as discussion goes. Because there could be gamblers that are not convinced, but on the other hand it could be true as well.
Just like when we don't want to gamble anymore, we could be just our personality is saying that we are not that risk taker. As there could be gamblers who are going all-in and YOLO and that's what they are also in real life. It might have a bad results for them as their decision is wrong, but that's how they are build, I guess.
It is a kind of mindset where some people underestimate their limits and decide from greed or madness, which ultimately lead to damage. On the other hand, those who are patient, thoughtful and planned, can be more successful in the long term.. Many times we see the effects of our own habits and personality that play an important role in our decision making. As you say, some people live in such a way that they are ready to take risks, and their results may be bad for them, but their mentality and behavior are so.
