If I want to HODL, I'll definitely choose a single wallet and I'll try to focus all of my resources on it. I think it's better to protect one strong entity instead of multiple entities. It's easier to focus on one thing instead of many things. When you have a single wallet, you have a single responsibility of taking care of this wallet. By having multiple wallets, you have to keep in mind that you have to protect 2 or more wallets at the same time instead of one.
I prefer quality over quantity.
You don't have to dedicate your life to store your bitcoin in one wallet and secure it. Advice is "
Never put all your eggs in one basket" that is applicable with Bitcoin fund and Bitcoin wallet too.
I prefer to store my bitcoin in a hardware wallet for holding and long term storage, and one or two more wallets with at least one wallet as hot wallet that I can bring it around with me and use my bitcoin, just in case I need spending bitcoin for something. This hot wallet is small in value definitely.
Just buy a ColdCard or Passport wallet and focus on that one.
