It is not entirely because they have managed to win money by betting of those clubs, there are people and football fans who have a very strong sense of community and passion for their clubs and they genuinely feel enthusiastic when they favorite team manage to get an important victory. That is specially true when we talk about national football clubs, those who represent not only a region of a country, but rather a whole country.
So, while it is true there are millions of people who are only into football and sports because it is a way for them to make money, the majority are in for the passion and the sense of belonging.
