The title said it already, some people argue that they are just gambling for fun and that they don't gambling because they want to make money from gambling but sometimes people that makes such kinds of statement still get addicted to gambling. Is it normal?

This kind of thing is quite common, especially now where there are not a few people who claim they are not addicts but in the end the treatment in gambling that is done even exceeds addicts playing gambling: D
Actually, regardless of the word normal or not, it depends on their will, I think because in this case we must be aware of what we do and it falls into the category of addiction or not, in the end we can conclude for ourselves whether we are addicted to gambling or not.

But doing denial like this for some people is actually quite a normal reason because they don't want to be labeled bad by some people considering that gambling clearly has a negative effect in some people's eyes so that as much as possible they will find reasons or justifications for themselves even though they feel addicted to gambling but as much as possible they will deny it and always say that this is just one way they have fun as a form of defense or calm themselves.
