There are other reasons people gamble too. Sometimes they gamble to socialize, or to relax, or to distract themselves from other things they have to do, which is never a good reason. Some people also see gambling as a form of entertainment, like going to the movies or watching a hockey game.
There are different perspectives on people's involvement in gambling and maybe they initially had an excuse in some way before becoming addicted and even people who are currently addicted to gambling also initially never imagined that it would lead them further into the cycle of addiction. If gambling is considered a place to make money then the person will unknowingly become addicted slowly because initially they think they can recover their previous gambling losses and that is why it is difficult to recover people who are already addicted if they do not have control from their closest family.
Gamblers get addicted to gambling without knowing it and later regret it. Even though they have no reason to be addicted, they consider that they have to recover their lost funds. They go to war to recover their money and I have seen gamblers who have been gambling tirelessly just to win. In return, they lose more money and are addicted even though they know that they should stop being addicted. So at all times you should remember that it is better to refrain from gambling for profit and to make the right decision to stop gambling when you lose your money. The cycles of addiction are such that you may have enough money in your wallet and you have decided to gamble with a limited amount but you keep losing and since you have enough money in your wallet, you keep playing more.
