It's actually two sided, the "old Gen" wants the forum the way it is while the new Gen wants a new version of the forum maybe not all but just as Bitmover mentioned, I think it will be more easier for the "new Gens" to adapt than the "old Gens" adapting to the new software....
A better solution has been concluded,the old SMF will stand while some new patch features will be added , it's more like bringing new features into the old ( among is the mobile enhancement features)
Going forward, we will continue to make improvements to the current software. One of the most requested features is improving the forum's usability on mobile devices, and that is already being worked on.
Hence, they still plan to continue the project independently so let's see if it could be worth it(probably in the future) if eventually completed
The developers have indicated to me that they intend to independently continue its development, without our support.
