Trump doesn't own those lands. They are owned by whoever won the dispute for them.
The Trump advantage is that he might be able to talk Putin into leaving some of the land for Ukraine in exchange for peace and some of the product of the land... rare earths.
[...]
There is no Trump advantage. Putin will gladly speak with anyone that claims Zelensky started the war and is willing to dis-arm Ukraine, etc...
Trump has not achieved anything other than feeding the bear and he tends to be convinced by the last person that speaks to him.
Trump is not putting pressure on Z. If Putin and Trump are right, Z has no authority, because he didn't allow elections. He is a dictator for the moment... completely against Democracy... no matter who started the war for what reason. Z simply doesn't have authority in Ukraine other than by force... like Hitler, by force. Working things out without hurting Ukraine any more, and without hurting Z is what Trump is trying to do.
The lands of Ukraine are wealthy enough in rare-earths and other things, that Ukraine can keep itself and simply pay off its debts. Z should be removed. NATO is protecting him. The answers aren't easy.
Z has authority over ukraine land.. legally and ethically and morally
the putin-trump deals are not about the true final negotiation table talks over ukraine land.. putin and trump cant just decide on uki land
the trump-putin talks is more of a adviser-client talk before the negotiation.. whereby trump is trying to get to the route of putins needs and what putin can or is willing to concede on, in which trump will offer putin a relaxation of sanctions for..
so that when putin faces Z theres more of a deal to be made between ukraine and russia to get to peace
