A competitive environment develops people. Those who do not improve themselves cannot enter the competition and are disadvantaged in many ways. If you have the skills related to the field you want to enter, it becomes easier for you to enter the workplace you want to work in.
Nowadays, access to information has become much easier and when you take the time to improve yourself, you can reach a better position. Therefore, always improving yourself and aiming to do better puts people in a better position.
I like a competitive environment but it should be moderate, not the one that will bring the usual inferiority complex. Most often, too competitive environments makes people want to be better than one another and as a result you see people with what they actually want but all looking depressed, this is why you see alot of suicidal news coming from a particular country, I will not mentioned the name of the country but you will understand if you watch the news.
There should always be a strike balance between work and fun, many people don't have this fun and are not always happy even when there is money they get paid from work. Though, the way I don't like too competitive environments is the same way I don't like environment that is not competitive, it makes people to be lazy, it makes people not productive, it makes people don't want to improve and it makes people dense with low IQ in everything they do.
