Even if DeepSeek's performance isn't nowhere near as comparable as ChatGPT's, it's still the most cost-effective GenAI on the market. It's no wonder why Deepseek is so popular. OpenAI should just open source the latest version of ChatGPT to stay ahead of the game. Otherwise, it will be seeing its demise soon. Same as Nvidia (although being a GPU manufacturer gives it some hope). For what I know, anything can happen in the future. So long as AI doesn't become a threat to humanity, there should be nothing to worry about.

DeepSeek no doubt is a cost effective GenAI but it has performance limitations that need t be addressed asap. If DeepSeek won't be able to improve it's performance issues then it will lose the early advantage gained over ChatGPT. End user is mostly interested in how the app is performing rather then it's back end structure. I as an end user will prefer the free Chat Bot that handles my queries well regardless of how much money is invested in designing the Chat Bot. If ChatGPT is giving me good performance over DeepSeek then why would I choose ChatGPT.
