As a trader i strongly believe Bitcoin offers stability and dominance which is one of the core reasons why most traders stick to trading bitcoin on the other hand altcoins brings high-risk, high-reward opportunities. The volatility in altcoins presents both risks and opportunities. As a trader, navigating uncertainty strategically can lead to high-reward trades, though for me, I mostly choose to trade BTC while leveraging a good derivatives platform. honestly if you trade on leverage, you already don't need to trade on altcoin, the main reason people trade on altcoin is volatility, but with leverage you easily multipled the volatility so basically you have the same opportunity by just adjusting your leverages.
but the big advantage of trading bitcoin even with leverage is that, it's already proven to be a good investment so if somehow price tanked so much that you don't really feel like cutting loss, you can just wait it out, while with altcoin in general, there's always chance that it will hit ATL and will never get back to ATH again.
just see performance of BTC compared to altcoin from previous bullrun.
you'd easily figure out that most of alts are nowhere near their ATH, even going deeper than their previous all time low these days.
