I'm not sure if this is also happening in your country. Is anyone honest enough to declare his/her crypto assets? For me, taxes should be considered ONLY if it is officially accepted and become legal tender.
with the numbers of users of crypto in the Philippines as well as the value of the crypto that are being transacted per year, it is practically impossible for any government that is constantly sourcing for ways to generate revenue to close her eyes to that source. most of the countries that are taxing gamblers for their win don't openly support gambling but for the sake of the revenue they hope to generate from it, they still tax gamblers and gambling companies.
the kind of government we have and the decision they make does not allow the public question some of their las and so, even if you consider this unreasonable, it doesn't stop them from implementing it. there is far worse unreasonable taxation that happens in different sectors that looks really unspeakable and with time, we have adapted to it and pay it comfortably without any complaint. the most important thing in this context is that they allow crypto transaction and that they are not making policies that suffocate all crypto users to become handicap in making crypto transaction.
