Sometimes a lazy man excuse for being poor is that he doesn't have a helping hand and that's why he's poor, that's bullshit I've seen people that were born with silver spoon but today they're poor cause they were so lazy and dependent on the wealth of their parents, their parents died and they would manage the wealth given to them and became poor, I've also seen people that the reverse was the case, they were born in poor family but worked hard, took risks and made good use if opportunities to become rich and name for themselves.
Being rich to me is a determined, some people are just so lazy to help themselves they love given the fish but refuse to learn how to fish and when the fisher man stops giving them the fish they'll go back to square one, poverty is a choice but once a poor person make up his or her mind and is very eager to succeed then they'll definitely succeed if they follow the right path, even though the success takes a gradual process it the product of the end that matters.
Even you are right that "rich" is earned with hard work and lazy means you are not going to be rich. Poverty is not the same thing though, being poor and being rich isn't the only option. Just to give an example, I am certainly not rich, not even well off, but I am definitely not poor neither, I have a house that I live in, I have food everyday, and I have clothes, I have enough money to pay for my medical bills, and I have a little debt, not much.
When you have all of these, and not really like a terrible version neither, like doing fine, then you are not in poverty, but that doesn't make you rich. What people here saying is that, even the lazy shouldn't be in poverty, and I never understood why that is a bad thing to say? I am not saying lets go be communists, sure let Elon and Jeff have a trillion dollars, no problems with that, but also lets "hope" for no poverty for nobody in the world, is that so much to hope?
