Users wouldn't be harmed by Ledger going bankrupt unless Ledger's code or keys end up in the wrong hands.
I don't see them going bankrupt anytime soon. Perhaps I misunderstood The Sceptical Chymist when he said that Ledger will hopefully self-destruct. Since the discussion is about Ledger Recover and not Ledger's solvency, I understood that as referring to the company messing up so badly and having its Ledger Recover service hacked and destroyed. And with it, of course, the funds of its users who activated the service.
They are one of the most well-known hardware wallet brands. They can't disappear just like that, and the matter with the recovery seed function is known only to better-informed crypto users. Many newcomers will still recognize Ledger as the #1 or possibly #2 HW. I believe that if their sales drop critically, they will just release a new model that will not have the possibility of a Recover option and thus, at least apparently, they will restore trust again.
