They did not play badly, as bad as we have seen them be this season, and they did not play well, as well as we have seen them be in other seasons. The new players in Manchester City all show promising signs, but maybe it is in next season that we will see them fully integrated to the Manchester City's coach style of play.

They didn't play badly (like when they were beaten by Real Madrid), but they weren't good enough to even hold Liverpool to a draw, and I think Guardiola needs to do an evaluation soon because all their lines seem to have problems. Their midfield lacks much creativity, making it difficult to create good chances, while the front line also could not do the finishing clinically but this is somewhat understandable because Liverpool defended very well. The worst is their defensive line, and it seems that the new defenders are not enough to solve their problems.
Yea, City defense is weak and they need to strengthen it, if they want to improve their performance to the best. The players are old and getting weak which is affecting their performance. It's very disheartening that City is be 20 points away from the top of the table. I hope that City will be able to finish on top four this season in order for them to qualify for UCL next season.
