In terms of turning passions to profit, it is way harder to earn from a hobby that was self taught than to earn from other skills or jobs or as an employee under a boss.
I think those who are crazy enough to turn their hobbies into a source of income and attain wealth unimaginable in the end know how hard it is to be patient, consistent and persistent despite criticisms and many setbacks, to get to where they are today as successful. Whereas those who get employed and have to work to earn a salary or earn from a skill that was learned somehow, don't encounter this much difficulty that may lead to financial freedom and breakthrough.
What do you think?
It depends on your hobby. If your hobby is spending money on shopping during weekends, then you'll struggle to make money unless you are a very famous influencer but if your hobby is also a skill, then you'll succeed. I want to show you my example. My hobby was creating UI/UX designs for websites and mobile apps. I have never attended university or boot camp to study UI/UX design but I was drawing lots of web and app designs. After a few months, I landed a job as a UI/UX designer and now earning a good salary. I suggest everyone to think about their hobbies, some hobbies are skills that are in high demand.

The thing is, when you spend time doing a hobby, you don't have to think about:

-how to create something in most efficient way,
-how to cut the costs,
-what is minimum market price for your product
-how competitive is your product in comparison to similar products,

Doing hobby is about enjoying doing it, or creating something just for the sake of it.

If someone would start doing their hobby like a job, with stress, I doubt that they would enjoy it for long time.
