you would have made more sense if you mentioned the physical features built into cars like heated seats, heated wipers and supercharge.. but then tesla, even after you bought the vehicle with the physical mechanisms in the vehicle you bought, want to later charge you extra fee/subscription to use it, so is the car really yours if you cant use all the products in it whenever you want.. including autopilot

if some central service has control of when and how you use something and they can switch it off, is it really your car

You will probably own the hardware you will never use or need but will have to replace if it fails outside of warranty and has to be replaced due to failing some government car safety test that finds a part you have paid for that you never got to use no longer works and if you do ever use the hardware you will only be licenced to use the software running on that hardware. A friend of mine owns a John Deere tractor and he said the price of the tractor is so high because they put so many electronic gadgets and sensors into it and you cannot even use most of the stuff in it unless you pay subscription fees to whichever component manufacturer owns the software for whichever gadget and then the real kicker is with all the sensors especially emissions sensors it keeps breaking down when a sensor goes faulty or gets some reading from some unrelated issue or whatever. They are literally making it unaffordable to own things and expensive just to lease or hire stuff and the whole licencing scheme has become another industry milking people for money.
