A 200-level Chemical Engineering student just lost his life for partaking in a bet in an attempt to swim across a river. the condition is that if he is able to swim across the river, he gets about $0.3 which is equivalent to about 300 naira. as a typical Ijaw man, i understand how this works and usually, during swimming in the creek for fun, a lot of bets goes on ranging from bets on who can last longer under the water to who can swim across certain rivers even with zero safety measures in place.
That's why it's not good for one  to gamble with what you can't lose no matter how tempting you think the offer is. As long as gambling is consign there is no sure odd, games are unpredictable occurrence. So gambling is ment to be done with what we can lose and not what we can't. The same mistake he made is the same thing some gambler's do while gambling with all they have believing it's a golden opportunity. It's advisable we assess the level of risk we take to avoid making a life destroying mistake
