If you play both, one way to easily track your expenses is just check your deposits on the casino site. Because it is quite easy to know if you are in the negative or positive side when you check the deposit and the withdrawal history on the site. Would be useless to track your betting history especially if you are also playing other luck-based games because for sure, the bets are quite long.
This is why, for me, knowing your deposit and withdrawal history will already give you insights if you are in profit or not.
Exactly, we have deposit/withdrawal history and there we can check our overal stats. It's pretty much the same for sportsbetting, there is a betting history. And for me that's enough, I don't need a special spreadsheet or betting log, but I guess those who wish to be pros (or at least try to...) should have some tools that can help them in the long run.
I once did that, and I feel frustrated from them on I stopped doing that. Unless you are comfortable with the amount you allocated and the result that you will see, which many gamblers are not.
I don't see the benefit of tracking your bets because the fact is you cannot beat the house, and gambling is not something you are going to make a profit, so why track it?
People make profit, but it's not easy & simple as it looks like. As you said, you did it once... I guess you learned something from that, so if you decide to try again maybe it will be better.
