If You Could Lose, Why Would You Risk It?
Gambling is actually one of the option out there if you're looking for ways to entertain yourself (of course, only for people who can control themselves). The different emotions you would feel plus the possibility to get something from it (through winning) is certainly satisfying. This is the reason why despite of the inevitable losses that a gambler can face, the satisfaction is what matters for them.

However it's a different thing if we're pertaining to an addicted gambler since they are uncontrollable, just playing blindly either to win huge or get back what they already lost.
And it is impossible to get back what he lost. And I think that even gambling addicts know very well that they have lost their money in the game forever. But some inner feeling, maybe resentment or hope to win and recoup still makes such a player continue to play. And accordingly, he continues to spend even more money.
It is actually difficult to get out of this cycle, they will always lose but they will not be able to stop gambling. They will lose today, but tomorrow they will consider themselves lucky, And it will continue like this. And so they will keep betting again and again in the hope of recovering the loss and going to bigger losses. They will never get back the money they lost, but will keep losing more. However, this may not be the case for everyone, because those who have good self-control and can control their emotions can get themselves out of this addiction.
