Money and other measures are used to evaluate people's performance in work because it is a common and universal understanding by most of the society. It's not necessary to be the only standard. In order for an organisation/society to run smoothly, a way (some sort of incentive) must be implemented and used so that all parties, if working harmoniously would benefit equally from both short-term and/or long-timed incentives. As such, it is natural that people are inclined towards making money rather than something else, when rewards/losses for their performance(s) and/or contributions are based on monetary terms only (incentives). It also depends whether or not the organisation/society is successful at motivating its members as some incentives might result in less productivity or efficiency. For example, a merit-based compensation scheme requires people to work harder justifying that they deserve more money while other companies prefer bonuses depending on annual and/or quarterly performance of the organization. In order to become financially-independent , every person should try their best to ensure that, no matter how big or small its monetary value is, that he/she will be able to produce something profitable for society and/or himself/herself. When done so, there would be a chance, though difficult, for him/her to live in a society without worrying about food and water supply as well as other basic human necessities such as healthcare etc.. In order to do this, first he/she needs an appropriate strategy as most of us are unable to come up with useful strategies on our own due to being influenced by others' thoughts. Second, it is important that each individual decides what type(s) of products/services they should focus their time and money towards, whether locally or globally. In addition, one needs to find people who can help him/her in achieving his/her goal/s as it may sometimes require some sort of investment before any positive outcomes are produced in return from the market place (a very good example being ICO). Once these two factors has been successfully implemented and carried out by an individual for themself or their businesses, they will slowly but surely develop a sense of self-awareness which leads them towards a better understanding about how the world functions in its entirety thus enabling themselves to live peacefully with everyone even those who are considered "enemies". In conclusion, no man/woman can fully focus solely upon either wealth without working hard nor focusing only on his spiritual side alone because both factors require proper planning as well as dedication from one's self before he/ she decides that they want something or need something in order to achieve whatever it is that they desire the most.
