And it is impossible to get back what he lost. And I think that even gambling addicts know very well that they have lost their money in the game forever. But some inner feeling, maybe resentment or hope to win and recoup still makes such a player continue to play. And accordingly, he continues to spend even more money.
That hope that they could recover what they have lost seems to be one of the greeters thing addicts use to convince their self that something can still be gotten back from the casino, they never want to accept defeat they feels like one lucky win with hope they can get back to the top which that don’t usually happens as they predict it, it takes time and cost them much more money than they can recover from.

It is a normal human tendency that stems from the concept of loss aversion. We hate losses twice as much as we crave winnings. We want to avoid the frustration and feeling which comes with loss that's why our mind forces us to play bigger amounts and win so that we do not have to face the loss.
