this leads me to thinking whether do people bet on sports they do not enjoy or are not a fan of? maybe there are people out there who are just really in for the money and they would bet on sports that are popular and they have a bigger chance on winning at even if they do not particularly enjoy them
personally i can't imagine having to sit and watch and analyze countless of matches of a sport i do not enjoy watching just to bet on them
what about you?
This is something i cannot think of, i can't just bet on something i don't know about specially on a sport's i don't know unless it's just seeing if the luck is on my side. Well, i tried to bet on a team i don't really know (Germany Basketball Bundesliga), since i can still bet even the game already started like who will win on the X quarter, and i did win without even knowing who are the players, i just check the previous end quarter scores lol.
Many gamblers if not all want to put their money on a team that seems the favourite in a match so they can make some profit. They necessarily don't mind about not having knowledge about the team but as far as the stats shows that this particular team has a higher tendency to carry the day then that's exactly where they would put in their money. Like I have tried playing some other sports like tennis aside football which I had to choose a particular playing without knowledge of him but just because the odds size shows he's with a better chance of winning his opponent in the game.
I think this discussion is a lot about the ones who are more interested on playing for fun and enjoyment and those who are mainly focusing on extracting what they can from the house and putting in their pockets (a different way to play), no judgements about it after all but for me it looks like a different way to see the games, gambling and sports.
one is interested in sports
the other one is interested in gambling or finding an edge to make more money.
I think that there are far fewer people and players who view sports competitions solely as a means to place bets and possibly earn some money than there are just sports fans. But you are certainly right that these are two different approaches to the perception of sports in general. For fans and fans of the game, this is of course just interest and pleasure from watching the game. For players, it is more likely just waiting for the results of the match and just waiting for a win, if you are lucky, of course.
you are correct, there are way more sports fans, but the thing is that many of these aren't interested in betting at all
so we are looking for the interested in betting and for the intersection between those who are interested + are fans
at the end of the day, there'll be a big amount that are interested in betting only but it's hard to know for sure what is the percentage
