It is time to update this topic with new information about secure elements.
Trezor recently updated their website and github page for Tropic01 Secure Element with more details.
Now it is confirmed that Tropic01 is open source with with open architecture, and it has transparent auditability.
I am not sure what is the price of this chips, but they have wider range of possible applications.
