Us have some leeway in designing and programming AI. The "deepseek shock" (a.k.a. Sputnik moment) might not entirely be negative in that retrospect.
Maybe. Just maybe. This could be a challenge for OpenAI and similar AI companies to help improve their products. Unlike China, the US has a wide array of advanced technologies at its disposal. I'm sure America will come up with something superior than Deepseek. If it doesn't, that means China has won. It'd be shocking news to the current world order, imo. Empires don't last forever, so sooner or later US hegemony will collapse. Perhaps China will own OpenAI and Nvidia in the future? I can't even imagine...
