There is what we call self-conviction. There is no amount of suggestions/advice you will give to an addicted gambler for him to quit gambling that will make him quit unless he has self-conviction or should I say self-realization. Addictions is something that is hard to deal with. Most people go to rehab and after some time, go back to do the same thing they were admitted for addiction.
Yes it is true that no matter how much money you offer an addicted gambler he will never give up his gambling until the gambler loses everything. Because gambling gives them financial advice that makes them dream of getting rich very quickly. And that is why they cannot shift their focus from gambling. And if they don't have money they continue gambling with confidence by borrowing money from others and if they lose it they stop gambling only for a while and talk against gambling but later they are seen gambling again. An addicted gambler will not be able to stop gambling until he can lead himself financially if he does not have that effort within himself.
