There is what we call self-conviction. There is no amount of suggestions/advice you will give to an addicted gambler for him to quit gambling that will make him quit unless he has self-conviction or should I say self-realization. Addictions is something that is hard to deal with. Most people go to rehab and after some time, go back to do the same thing they were admitted for addiction.
You're absolutely correct. Imagine an addicted gambler that is looking for solution And then he reads through this threads and see suggestions and thinks by trying them out he can just get out of an addictive lifestyle, it will just be a matter of time before he goes back into his addictive gambling lifestyle due to the effect of the dopamine that has made the act of gambling very much a part of him.
Nothing beats self conviction and the determination that comes when you are angry with your current situation. It is only you and you alone that can tell yourself that enough is enough about this lifestyle. Once it has eaten ito you, nothing external can save you, you have to make the decision that you're putting an end to this and then you can possibly get out of addiction for the better
